I have some question about the Herpeselect, there many argumentation about the result, I have some paper discuss the reliability, some people think the result was veracious 21 days after the first infection,but some paper showed the Herpeselect result was reliability after 6 month, at least about 9-10 weeks.
what is your point about the reliability of Herpeselect

Most people will test positive by the 6th or 8th week, and it can take up to about 4 months for some.

1.) how much the Herpeselect elisa I and II test cost in USA ?
2.) if I take the Herpeselect elisa 6 mouth or more long time after infection, will the reliability decrease ?

The company that makes the Herpes select test state that sensitivity of the test at about 8 weeks post lesion eruption should be about 93 % indicationg a 5 to 7 % false negative rate. And the reported specificity of the tests is reported to be about 95 to 97 % indicating a 3 to 5 % false positive rate. Cut off results for reporting a positive are probably too low for routine testng in my opinion. I recommend that if you do any testing that you seek advice for a Doctor experienced in the interpretation of these results. Don`t try to muddle through this statistical quagmire on your own. Cultures for Herpes with an initial outbreak of lesions is still the best test. Take care.

In the US about 50 to 250 dollars depending where you live and who orders the tests. At a local Health department clinic the tests would be much less. At our local office it is about 5 dollars. Take care.
